Very nice site; my wife found it while searching for a Witlof recipe. I grew witlof in Holland at the Agriculture College in Leeuwarden(BHLS) in 1974, when I worked there in the green-house/plant science. We emigrated to Canada in 1975 and never ate witlof till two years ago in a very fancy restaurant! I looked everywhere for seed to grow it in our garden and ended up taking some seed from the Netherlands because we could not find it in Canada. Right now we are eating some Home Grown witlof and it is delicious!!
One question; what is the best temperature to force it?

We grow the witlof in Europe. I am very happy to find out that there is also production in Australia. For more information about this fantastic and delicious vegetable, please visit our website: www.flevolof.nl

As a chicory-witloof-specialist within Nunhems Netherlands and contacting many chicory-growers in Europe and from all over the world, I am very interested in your company.
Nunhems has a very broad breeding program in chicory-witloof which could be interesting for your company.
(I got your name from Mr. van der Put in New Zealand and more information on your internetsite)
Looking forward to your message,
My best regards, Ton van Doesburg.

At last I got a chance to check the JET FRESH WITLOF site out for myself.
What a pleasant surprise, great info and I love the pictures.
Keep up the good work!
My regards to all,
Aafke.

About three weeks ago we saw in a store a tray with Brussels lof, something I had not seen for years here in Perth. There was no name on it and no price. The shop assistants did not know what it was and I bought two for 1$ (Sometimes I can't hide the dutch in me....)
Delicious.... after all those years.....delicious!
Went on the net to find out how it is called in English and came accross
this Jet Fresh site. Imagine that, I haven't seen one of my favorite
vegies for years and suddenly I drill on this grower/supplier Jet Fresh.
Good on you, family Van Graas
Now I know what and where to ask for the stuff and hope to enjoy it more often!

Very interesting. I had my first taste of witlof the other day - I knew nothing about the vegetable. Now that i uderstand it to be a kind of chicory it seems more familiar. Absolutely delicious - I think that you should promote it more to the general public, maybe at wine and horticultural festivals etc and get some newspaper coverage in wine and food articles etc. All the best with further development of the website - it's really good so far. some mor detailed diagrams or high res photos of witlof preparation would be good.
Staff Reply : Good to hear some feedback on your very first witlof encounter!
You raise some very relevant observations and we fully agree that there needs to be more done to promote witlof to the general public...which is the primary reason we created this website! In the past few months we have also been discussing the possibility of showcasing witlof at the wine and horticultural festivals in the Yarra Valley Region, which we hope to get involved in this year.
In the next few weeks we will be updating the website to include some more pictures of witlof production...so watch this space...
